Here’s the truth. Although a little touristy—because perhaps it’s the capital of the Bahamas—Nassau is flat-out gorgeous. While there are several attractions in and around Nassau that would interest visitors and meet or exceed their expectations, Paradise Island provides an unrivaled experience by far. It’s not called paradise for nothing—and there’s a way it just lives up to its symbolic name. Whether it’s the sun, the sand, or just some dose of electrifying fun—Paradise Island has it all.

Remember that Paradise Island is the location of Atlantis, the most popular resort destination in the Bahamas, whose name evokes memories of the mythical lost city of Atlantis.

For those in the Sunshine State or any nearby states, it’s a dive across. There’ll be no need to cross the Atlantic. But what’s the easiest way to get to Paradise Island? That’s what we look at in this article. And in our opinion, it will just have to be by taxi services.

Why A Taxi Is The Easiest Way To Get To Paradise Island

When we talk about an easy way to get to Paradise Island, we’re talking about a travel medium that’s hassle-free, quick, safe, and convenient. And in our opinion—traveling by taxi checks all those boxes. For perspective, we’re talking about travel from either Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas—or from the airport, some short distance away—to Paradise Island. So this is something to consider.

To get to Nassau, visitors fly in through the Lynden Pindling International Airport. This airport is about 16 kilometers away from Nassau downtown—and hence not far. A drive from the airport to Nassau City will take about 20 minutes. And, of course, other than a direct route from the airport to Paradise Island, one may want to first get to the city (Nassau)—from the airport—before subsequently proceeding to Paradise Island.

  • How Much Is A Taxi From The Lynden Pindling International Airport (Nassau)— To Paradise Island? Taxis generally charge $40. But this may go up if passengers are more than two—and with the amount of luggage. Tipping is OK.

Whichever way, a taxi is fast, convenient, safe, and comfortable. From the airport, they are super easy to locate, as they park just outside the baggage claim section of the arrival terminals. Also, the drivers are warm and friendly and make the journey wonderfully relaxed and congenial. Then they’ll also be no time to waste—waiting for other passengers—such as is the case with a shuttle, for instance.

Taxis are also safe and convenient because they are regulated by the government. One other advantage of taxis—aside from the ease of travel—is that taxi drivers can regale travelers with interesting tales and tidbits about the country, including providing tips on places one should consider visiting. And no, there are no Ubers in the Bahamas. So that’s something to keep in mind.

Other than that, taxis will always be available, regardless of the time of day or night. For identification, taxis have yellow number plates with “taxi” written on them. Having said that, there are other ways to get to paradise Island.

Using Shuttles To Get To Paradise Island

Aside from taxis, there are shuttles that ply the airport to Paradise Island route. However, they are not many, and they are not as easily available as taxis. However, they still come with a huge advantage as far as cost is concerned. This is especially true for single or duo travelers. Those who’ll want to travel by shuttles should do well to book in advance. There are a number of shuttle agencies or companies that offer transfer services from the airport. These can either be private transfers or shared transfers. To book these shuttles, travelers should use the Jayride Shuttles website.

Regardless, even if shuttles are cool and convenient, one may still have to wait for the vehicles to fill up. For those who want to save time, this will be a limiting factor.

Other Ways To Get To Paradise Island

Here’s the thing. While travelers can use public buses called Jitney in Nassau, these buses don’t go to Paradise Island. Nevertheless, there are still other ways to get to Paradise Island. For instance, one can rent a car. However, this will set travelers back by about $100 per day. For those who want to try this super convenient option, Budget Car Company is a popular option.

Lastly, one can use a ferry. Obviously, these do not go to the airport but provide transportation between downtown Nassau and Paradise Island. It’s a ride that’s amazingly scenic, comfortable, and hence, enjoyable. A ferry ride takes about 12 minutes. For those in downtown Nassau, the boats depart from Woodes Rodgers Wharf. At the end of the day, while taxis are quick and super easy to travel by, Paradise Island is insanely beautiful—regardless of how one chooses to move around.
